SOCIAL SENSES

This site-specific installation features tall, slender tubes ranging from 7 to 14 feet, each with a different surface texture. These pieces are part of my 'Social Senses: Insight and Action' series, an ongoing project exploring how people physically interact during social events. When people gather, they desire to distinguish themselves from others while also seeking connection. As abstract representations of gatherings, these structures evoke mutual awareness—people express and mirror their individuality, fostering connections.

The physical arrangement of this installation, with each tube captured mid-bend and angles directed toward or away from one another, reflects the behavior of individuals within a group. Their shared ideas, expressed through their inner thoughts, shape the overall group dynamic. They symbolize individuals immersed in their thoughts, experiences, and beliefs, all standing together.

Shared ideas reflect inner thoughts and personal experiences. Individuals lean in, turn away, and pull back as they share stories and express beliefs. These structures, as abstract representations of gatherings, evoke mutual awareness—people express and mirror their individuality, fostering connections.
