PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES, MULTIPLE INTERPRETATIONS

In this series of works, I explore my interests, differences in definitions, and the concept of knowing. One installation features a row of freestanding, box-like white frames sitting on a long white shelf. The frames are empty, allowing viewers to see through to the wall behind. In front of each frame is an object or pile gathered from natural surroundings. The crisp geometry of the wooden boxes and flat shelves contrasts with the found organic objects, such as a rock, a piece of shell, a twig, or a cicada husk. These materials embody both human-made structure and the fluid, organic aspects of nature. The white outline suggests uniformity; they represent an attempt at containment, prompting questions about definitions with their explicit and implicit boundaries—beyond dictionary definitions, scientific explanations, and our collectively agreed-upon meanings. And beyond spiritual, philosophical, and metaphysical realms, even these cannot provide us with absolute understanding. The world we know extends beyond the boundaries we have set.
